Washington: The United States has once again dealt a severe blow to Russia. Some 400 companies that help Russia have been banned in Ukraine. On Wednesday, the United States banned 398 companies from about 15 countries, including Russia and China. All of them are accused of providing products and services to aid Russia’s war efforts against Ukraine. This joint action by the US Treasury and State Department is aimed at punishing “third countries” accused of providing material aid to Russia or helping Russia evade Western sanctions imposed following the invasion of Ukraine.

Let us tell you that Russia launched the first attack on Ukraine in February 2022, after which many Western countries led by the United States imposed various types of economic sanctions on Russia. The names of some Indian companies are also banned. The US Treasury Department has imposed sanctions on 398 companies related to countries that indirectly support Russia. Of them, 274 companies are accused of providing advanced technology to Russia. Russia-based defense and manufacturing companies are also among the companies targeted by sanctions.

The United States wants to reduce Russia’s power

The United States wants to reduce Russia’s power with this step. These companies produce or refine products associated with weapons used against Ukraine. Apart from this, the US State Department has also imposed diplomatic sanctions on several senior officials of the Russian Defense Ministry and a group of defense companies and companies based in China. These companies are involved in the export of dual-use defense products. Treasury Undersecretary Wally Adamo said the United States and its allies are committed to deterring those trying to undermine Russia’s war machine and assisting its efforts to circumvent Western sanctions and export controls.
