Waqf controversy: Raising issue for electoral gains…Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah responds to BJP

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah

The issue of the Waqf Board’s claim over farmers’ land in Vijaypur, Karnataka, has now taken a political shape. In this matter, the opposition BJP is the aggressor and accuses the state government of pursuing a policy of appeasement. At the same time, the ruling Congress party seems to be on the defensive on this issue and accuses the BJP of raising it to gain benefits in the by-elections.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday accused the BJP of giving importance to the Waqf issue in view of the assembly by-elections to be held in the state and the elections to be held in the neighboring state of Maharashtra.

Notice given 200 times during BJP government

Farmers in some parts of the state alleged that their lands were being marked as Waqf property. Responding to these allegations, Siddaramaiah reiterated that farmers will not be allowed to be evicted from their land. CM said that the notices issued to him will be withdrawn.

Karnataka CM, attacking the BJP, said that they are doing politics for profit in the elections. He surmised that notices were issued even during the BJP government. What do they have to say about it? More than 200 notices were given during the BJP’s rule.

Make politics regarding the by-elections.

The Chief Minister said: I have already said that the notices will be withdrawn, so why is this issue being raised? If our government has issued notices, they will be withdrawn and no farmers will be evicted from their land.

On the BJP’s plan to protest the Waqf issue in the state on November 4, the CM said it was done for the benefit of by-elections in three assembly constituencies and the Maharashtra elections. On the allegations leveled against the government by the farmers of the state, the BJP came down heavily on the state’s Minority Welfare and Waqf Minister B. Jade. He demanded the resignation of Zameer Ahmed Khan.
