Ministry of External Affairs statement on Gautam Adani case
Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal held a press conference on the Adani case registered in the United States on Friday. Addressing reporters, he said that the issue of prosecution against Adani is a legal issue. This includes private companies, some individuals, and the US Department of Justice. The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson also clarified that the Government of India did not receive any formal information about this investigation in advance.
Spokesman Randhir Jaiswal also said that the Indian Embassy in the United States has not yet been informed about any arrest warrant or legal action in Adani’s case. The Government of India cannot legally interfere in this in any way at this time.

There is a legal option for every case – MEA
Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said this is entirely part of a judicial process. In such cases there are established legal procedures. There is a legal option for each case. He said that we trust that it will be followed up promptly.
A Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson said the Indian government was not informed of the matter in advance. We didn’t even have any discussions with the US government on this matter. Any request for execution of a subpoena/arrest warrant by a foreign government constitutes mutual legal assistance.
There is no formal information from the US side
Randhir Jaiswal, speaking to reporters, said that these cases are investigated on merit. We have not received any request from the US side on this matter. This is a legal issue related to private institutions. The Government of India is not legally a party in any way at present.
