Indian team’s star batsman Virat Kohli recently scored a century in the first match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. This player scored a century in the Test after 630 days i.e. 20 months. This player is none other than South African captain Temba Bavuma. He scored a century in the second innings of the Test match played against Sri Lanka at the Kingsmead Derby.

Temba Bavuma ends his century-long wait

The South African team has completely captured Sri Lanka in this match. The main reason for this is Temba Bavuma. He performed very well in the first innings and maintained his pace in the second innings as well. Temba Bavuma completed his century off 202 balls in this innings. This is his third century in Test format. Previously, he had scored a century against the West Indies in March 2023. Since then, not a single century has been seen off Temba Bavuma’s bat.

Temba Bavuma also played a captaincy innings in the first innings of the match. He scored 70 runs off 117 balls, which included 9 fours and 1 six. Apart from Temba Bavuma, no South African batsman could reach the 30-run mark in this innings. It was on the basis of this innings by Bavuma that South Africa scored 191 runs in the first innings, after which Sri Lanka’s first innings was completed by 42 runs. In such a situation, South Africa’s lead has reached 500 runs.

Tristan Stubbs also scored a century

Apart from Temba Bavuma, Tristan Stubbs also scored a century in this innings. He played an innings of 122 runs in 221 balls. This inning included 9 fours and 2 sixes. This was the second century of Tristan Stubbs’ Test career. Thanks to these two players, the South African team has scored more than 300 runs in their second innings.
