Cyclonic storm Fengal approaches

The deep depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal developed into a cyclonic storm on Friday afternoon. The Indian Meteorological Department gave this information on Friday. The cyclonic storm named ‘Fengal’ is likely to arrive near Puducherry on the afternoon of November 30. During this period the wind speed can reach 90 kilometers per hour.

It will make landfall on Saturday afternoon

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the deep depression formed in the southwest Bay of Bengal is likely to develop into a cyclone. Currently, the system is centered about 380 kilometers southeast of Chennai. Once it becomes a cyclone, it is likely to move northwestwards and make landfall between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram on Saturday afternoon.

There will be heavy rain in these areas.

The Meteorological Department said the cyclonic storm was officially named Fengal. Heavy rain is expected in some areas of south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema on Friday and Saturday. Also, there is a possibility of heavy rains in districts like Nellore, Chittoor, Tirupati and Annamayya.

Fishermen should stay away from the beach.

The IMD has also issued a warning of strong winds that will reach speeds of up to 75 kilometers per hour in the southern coastal areas. Fishermen have been strictly warned not to venture into the sea. Fishermen already at sea have been urged to return to shore immediately.

Special alert issued for ports

Due to Cyclonic Storm Fengal, a Phase 3 warning has been issued at Krishnapatnam and Nizampatnam ports in Andhra Pradesh. A phase 1 alert has been issued at other ports in Andhra Pradesh.
