Delhi air turns poisonous
The air pollution situation in the country’s capital Delhi has once again worsened. Air quality has reached the very poor category. There was a slight improvement in the air quality in Delhi due to a slight breeze since the last two days, but the capital has turned into a gas chamber. The Air Quality Index (AQI) is recorded at more than 400 in many areas of Delhi. With the onset of winter, the air of Delhi has become poisonous.

An AQI between 0 and 50 is “good”, 51 to 100 is “satisfactory”, 101 to 200 is “moderate”, 201 to 300 is “bad”, 301 to 400 is “very poor”. An AQI between 401 and 450 is considered “serious” and above 450 is considered “very serious.”
AQI 316 was recorded yesterday
Earlier, an AQI of 316 was recorded in Delhi at 4 pm on Saturday, which was over 290 in the morning. Air pollution levels in Anand Vihar reached the “severe” category (AQI above 400), while 27 other monitoring stations in the city recorded an AQI in the “very poor” category, with levels above 300. The Neighboring Ghaziabad (330) also recorded an AQI in the ‘very poor’ category. According to CPCB data, AQI levels in Gurugram (209), Greater Noida (250) and Noida (269) were slightly better and fell in the ‘poor’ category, while Faridabad’s AQI (166) remained in the moderate category. Even though people violated the ban on using firecrackers on Diwali night, the air quality in Delhi did not reach the ‘severe’ category as expected due to favorable winds.
