Mumbai: In the Maharashtra Assembly elections, members of many political families, including the Sharad Pawar family, contested against each other. Some won the elections and others were defeated by their own people. Sharad Pawar’s nephew Ajit Pawar was contesting the Baramati elections against his nephew. Once again he achieved a great victory at Baramati. Ajit Pawar defeated his elder brother’s son Yugendra Pawar by over one lakh votes and won for the eighth time.

Sanjana Jadhav defeated her ex-husband

At the same time, Sanjana Jadhav, daughter of former Union minister and BJP leader Raosaheb Danve, was contesting against her ex-husband for the Kannada Assembly seat in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district of Marathwada region. Sanjana faced tough competition from her ex-husband Harshvardhan Jadhav. However, in the end Sanjana Jadhav won. Sanjana received 84,492 votes and defeated Harshvardhan by a margin of 18,201 votes. Sanjana’s brother Santosh Raosaheb Danve won from Bhokardan seat as a BJP candidate in Jalna district.

NCP leader from Aheri constituency and State Minister Dharam Raobaba Atram from Gadchiroli was contesting the elections against his own daughter. Daughter Bhagyashree Atram lost the elections. Dharamraobaba demonstrated his political dominance by winning the seat by a huge margin, while Bhagyashree came third.

Similarly, in Loha assembly constituency of Nanded, former BJP Lok Sabha member Pratap Patil Chikhlikar contested as NCP candidate. Chikhlikar defeated his sister Ashabai Shinde, who had contested the elections on the Peasants and Workers Party ticket.

Let us tell you that in the results declared on Saturday for all 288 seats in the Maharashtra Assembly, 21 women candidates emerged victorious, but only one of them is from the opposition party. As many as 14 candidates have won on the BJP ticket and 10 of them have been re-elected.
