Municipal Employees Union president Sagar and secretary Dharamveer said the protest has continued at the Municipal Office for three days straight to get justice for the victim, sanitation worker Sudhir. The Sector Municipality has also written to the police administration to take action in this regard.
Despite this, no action has been taken to date. It is clear that due to political pressure efforts are being made to silence the matter. Because the guy who attacked is a BJP councilor from district 3 of the municipality. Because of this, there is great resentment among employees.
The union leaders warned that this was a case of assault on a health worker from a Scheduled Caste during working hours. That falls into the category of serious crime. Therefore, immediate action must be taken against the accused as per the law, otherwise the employees will be forced to come out on the streets and protest.
Also, leaders of labor organization Center of Indian Trade Union (CITU), Satish Sethi and Ramesh Nanehada, arrived at the dharna and raised questions to the state BJP government that on one hand, healthcare workers are being held back under the chairmanship of the Minister Main in Jind on November 24. Invitations are being extended to participate in the Valmiki Jayanti celebrations.
On the other hand, councilors from his party and their families openly humiliate and beat health workers within the municipal office. This shows the double character of the BJP towards the Dalit class healthcare workers. CITU will also submit a memorandum to the SDM on November 26 demanding justice.
