In the Jharkhand Assembly elections, the INDIA bloc performed strongly and won 56 out of 81 seats, while the NDA was limited to just 24 seats. But the most talked about were the VVIP seats in the state, where the reputation of many senior leaders and their families was at stake.
The results from these seats showed that Hemant Soren’s charisma remains intact in the state, while the BJP suffered a major setback with the defeat of its big faces. Nisat Alam, wife of former Jharkhand minister Alamgir Alam, who was arrested by the ED, won in Pakur by a maximum margin of 86,029 votes.
VVIP Seat Results
Barhet (ST): Chief Minister Hemant Soren (JMM) again achieved a big victory from his traditional position. By defeating BJP’s Kamal Hembram, he showed that he remains the most important face of Jharkhand politics.
Dumka (ST): Hemant Soren’s brother Basant Soren (JMM) defeated BJP’s Sunil Soren in this seat. This victory is another example of the strength of the Soren family.
Gandeya: Hemant Soren’s wife Kalpana Soren (JMM) has given a great start to her political career by defeating BJP’s Muniya Devi.
Ghatshila (ST): Babu Lal Soren (BJP), son of former Chief Minister Champai Soren, had to face defeat in this seat. Here Ramdas Soren (JMM) won.
Potka (ST): Arjun Munda’s wife Meera Munda (BJP) caused a major upset by defeating Sanjeev Sardar (JMM).
Jagannathpur (ST): Madhu Koda’s wife Geeta Koda (BJP) was defeated by Sona Ram Sinku of the Congress.
Jamtara: Shibu Soren’s daughter-in-law Sita Murmu (BJP) was defeated by Irfan Ansari of the Congress.
Jamshedpur East: BJP got relief in this seat. Raghubar Das’ daughter-in-law Purnima Sahu defeated Congress’s Ajay Kumar.
Seraikela (ST): Here former chief minister Champai Soren (BJP) won.
Regarding money: Former BJP Chief Minister Babu Lal Marandi gave some relief to the NDA by winning this seat.
