Punjab Crime News (Aaj Samaj), Chandigarh: Following the Punjab government’s zero tolerance anti-corruption policy, the State Vigilance Office team arrested SDO Neha Panchal and her assistant on charges of accepting bribes of Rs 15,000. This case was registered following a complaint by a resident of Gagandeep Colony, Bhattiyan Bet, Ludhiana.
The complainant told the Vigilance Bureau that the company’s annual bill totaling Rs 7,08,000 was deposited at the Smart City office of Municipal Corporation Zone-D, Ludhiana. When he went to SDO Neha Panchal’s office, she demanded a bribe of Rs 15,000 or 2 per cent of the total amount in exchange for the bill being passed. The complainant had also recorded the conversation with SDO Neha.

The team swung into action after investigating the complaint.
The spokesperson said that after investigating the allegations made in the complaint, the Vigilance Bureau team laid a trap and caught Naitik, assistant of accused SDO Neha Panchal, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 from the complainant in the presence of two government witnesses. It was said that Naitik was sent by SDO Neha to collect the bribe amount. After this, SDO Neha Panchal was also arrested in this case. In this regard, a case has been registered against both the accused at the Ludhiana Vigilance Bureau police station. Both accused will appear in court tomorrow and further investigations into the case are underway.
