Among them, Dr Ishank Kumar won from Chabbewal in Hoshiarpur district, Gurdeep Singh Randhawa from Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur district and Hardeep Singh Dimpy Dhillon won from Giddadbaha seat. Jatinder Kaur, wife of Gurdaspur MP, was defeated by Gurdeep Singh Randhawa in Dera Baba Nanak.

While in Giddadbaha, Amrita Vading, wife of Ludhiana MP Amarinder Singh Raja Vading, was defeated by Hardeep Singh Dimpy Dhillon. In Chabbewal, AAP’s Ishank Kumar defeated Congress’s Ranjit Kumar by 28,690 votes. This is the biggest victory among the four seats. Ishank is the son of Dr Rajkumar Chabbewal, MP from Hoshiarpur Loksabha seat.

The AAP suffered losses due to the Gurdeep Bath rebellion after the distribution of tickets in the Barnala seat. Bath contested the election as an independent after failing to secure the ticket. He got 16,899 votes in the elections, while the AAP candidate’s margin of defeat was about two thousand votes. Kuldeep Singh Kala Dhillon of the Congress won from here, who got 28,245 votes. AAP’s Harinder Singh Dhaliwal, who came second, got 26,097 votes, while BJP’s Kewal Singh Dhillon got 17,958 votes.

The BJP suffered a setback in all four seats in the by-elections. She couldn’t even come second in any seat. Two-time Finance Minister Manpreet Badal came third from the Gidderbaha seat. Only Dhillon, who was a two-time MLA from Barnala, lost. He came third. The BJP lagged far behind in Dera Baba Nanak and Chabbewal.

In the year 2022, out of these four seats, Congress won 3 seats and AAP won one. However, Barnala MLA Gurmeet Meet Hayer won the Lok Sabha elections from Sangrur. Similarly, Raja Vading, who won from Giddadabaha, Ludhiana and Sukhjinder Randhawa, who won from Dera Baba Nanak, became MPs after winning the Gurdaspur elections. Chabbewal MLA Dr Rajkumar Chabbewal had won from the Congress, but before the Lok Sabha elections, he joined the Aam Aadmi Party, after which he became MP from Hoshiarpur.
