Punjab News: Farmer leaders begin preparations for march in Delhi

Chandigarh (Aaj Samaj)The farmer leaders of Punjab are now preparing to march to Delhi once again to present their demands. Before that, farmers will undergo a death fast to put pressure on the Centre. Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal has announced that he will go on hunger strike at the Khanauri border on November 26. At the same time, farmers unhappy with land acquisition for the Delhi-Katra project have started surrounding the state government.

Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said the farmers will march to Delhi on December 6. Farmer leaders have already said that they will head towards Delhi in small groups. This time it won’t be on some tractors. Not only this, on November 26, farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal will observe a fast. Pandher says there is very little time left. Therefore, all farmer leaders will have to go from village to village using tractors to create awareness. So that funds can be raised for it. This is a great movement and for this farmers will have to unite.

Sarwan Singh Pandher has cornered the state government on the issue of land acquisition for the Delhi-Katra Expressway. Pandher says farmers are forcibly taking away their land by offering less compensation. Recently, he protested against the lathi charge against Bathinda farmers. He raised questions about former chief minister Amarinder Singh. He alleged that during the Congress government, Chief Minister Amarinder Singh had made changes in the rules and reduced the fees of collectors.

He criticized the federal government because, to acquire land from farmers, they do not have to pay compensation to the collector, but rather according to the market value. But the government is cheating the farmers. Pandher said farmers are demanding that the MSP Act be applied to their crops. So that farmers’ crops can be bought at the right price. But the central government is not doing this. Also, the Center wants to re-implement those three black laws, something farmers will not allow to happen. Farmer leaders have demanded a venue from the government to hold their protest in Delhi.
