Priyanka Gandhi.
The Congress Party has raised serious questions over the lack of transparency in the electoral process. Party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said India should go back to traditional ballot papers instead of electronic voting machines (EVMs). Along with this, he clarified that there can be no middle way in this matter, neither EVM nor voting.
Also, if sources are to be believed, party leader Rahul Gandhi He said questions will now have to be raised with the Electoral Commission because the entire electoral process is not transparent. It is very important to guarantee transparency in the electoral process. He said that just as the Congress has taken a clear stand on caste census and raising the 50 per cent reservation limit, similarly there is a need to take a firm stand on other issues like the Sambhal issue.
The Congress has decided that the focus will be on ensuring accountability of the Election Commission on the lines of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). The party believes there is a need to put pressure on the Election Commission to ensure fair elections.
