On 25 April 2022, Ambala Superintendent of Police briefed drivers on ensuring road safety, determining lane driving (left lane) for heavy vehicles and speed restricted vehicles (fixed speed limit) and drive in the left lane for smooth movement. vehicles and a meeting of police/employees was called to sensitize them and take necessary measures. Under Part 5 of Section 4 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 2017, challans were issued to 62 heavy vehicles for violating the prescribed speed limit and rules by not driving on the left lane. Today, 28 October 2024, challans were issued to 62 heavy vehicles and so far challans have been issued to 36,537 heavy vehicles in the last 830 days. The Superintendent of Police had instructed the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Ambala Traffic and the Traffic Manager, Police Station that as per Part 5 of Section 4 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 2017, it will be ensured that all heavy and speed-restricted vehicles move in the left lane within the prescribed speed limit, so that road safety can be ensured and no driver faces difficulties when overtaking and can be avoided traffic accidents.
If any driver violates the rules of Part 5 of Section 4 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 2017 by not following the speed limit and driving in the left lane, then he must be reprimanded. To follow the instructions of Ambala Superintendent of Police and ensure road safety, today, 28th October 2024, Ambala Traffic Police issued notice to traffic police for violating speed limit and rules by not driving by the left lane under Part 5 of Section 4 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 2017 issued challans for 62 heavy vehicles. This campaign will continue as well. Ambala Superintendent of Police, while appealing to the drivers, said that to ensure road safety and smooth movement of vehicles, it is mandatory to follow the speed limit and left lane as prescribed under Part 5 of Section 4 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 2017. that road accidents can be reduced.
