America’s big statement on violence in Bangladesh
Moore was actually asked about the United States’ stance on violence against minorities in Bangladesh. He was asked that in such a situation, what will the Trump administration do differently compared to the Biden administration? Regarding this, he said that there is no challenge in the world that cannot be solved.
Moore said that there are currently more than 50 wars around the world and I am surprised that the current American government is not paying attention to Bangladesh. He said I assure you that religious freedom was the top priority among human rights during Trump’s first term.
India is an important ally of the United States – Moore
In many ways it was the center of our foreign policy. This time you will also be able to see something similar. The Trump team sees India as an important ally, so the next Trump administration will see cooperation between the United States and India that has not been seen until now.
Why is there controversy in Bangladesh?
After the overthrow of Sheikh Hasina’s government in Bangladesh, there was violence against minorities, especially Hindus, Hindu organizations were demanding justice in this matter. Last month, on October 25, a rally was held in Chittagong demanding protection of Hindu rights. 19 people, including Chinmoy Das, were charged with insulting the national flag of Bangladesh during the demonstration.
In the same case, Hindu saint Chinmoy Krishna Das was arrested on November 25 on charges of treason. The Bangladesh court did not grant him bail and sent him to prison. Following this, Chinmoy Das’s supporters took to the streets and started violent protests.
India’s Ministry of External Affairs also issued a statement expressing deep concern over the arrest of Chinmay Krishna Das in Bangladesh and non-granting of his bail. This issue has come to light amidst continued attacks on Hindus and other minorities by extremist elements in Bangladesh, hence there is growing concern for the safety of minorities and protection of their rights in Bangladesh.
