UP by-elections: Muslims cannot vote, SP demands re-election in three seats

SP chief Akhilesh Yadav

SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav has once again demanded by-elections to three UP assembly seats. SP national general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav demanded the Election Commission to cancel the Meerapur, Kundarki and Sisamau elections. Ram Gopal Yadav tweeted and said that the by-elections held yesterday in Uttar Pradesh were between the Samajwadi Party and the district officers and police of the respective areas and not between the SP and the BJP. The kind of naked dancing carried out by the police yesterday in the by-elections, especially in Meerapur, Kundarki, Sisamau and Kathari, is a red flag for democracy.

The PS leader stated that atrocities have been committed everywhere, but in the aforementioned areas the administration has crossed all limits of decorum. In Meerapur, Kundarki and Sisamau, Muslim voters were prevented from voting at gunpoint. These elections should be canceled and re-elections held under the supervision of paramilitary forces.

At the same time, yesterday i.e. Wednesday, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav also made a similar allegation. Akhilesh tweeted and said that the Election Commission should immediately suspend the SHO of Kakrauli police station area in Meerapur because he is preventing voters from casting their votes by threatening them with a revolver. Akhilesh said in another tweet that immediate suspension action should be taken against the SHO who used abusive language and behavior towards women to stop them from voting in Ibrahimpur.
