4pm News Network: Veteran Bengali actor and playwright Manoj Mitra passed away in Kolkata on Tuesday (November 12). Manoj Mitra has said goodbye to the world at just 86 years old. After this sad news became known, artists in the industry expressed their condolences through social media platforms. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee paid her last tribute to the late Bengali actor through his nickname X.
Mamta Banerjee wrote in her post, “Saddened by the passing away of famous actor, director and playwright ‘Bang Vibhushan’ Manoj Mitra this morning. He was a prominent personality in our world of theater and cinema and his contribution has been immense. Mamta wrote in her post: “I express my deepest condolences to his family, friends and fans.”

He also acted in great director Satyajit Ray’s films Ghare Baire and Ganashatru. He has played many comic and antagonist roles in Bengali films. Over the years, he has received numerous prestigious awards and honors, including the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for Best Playwright in 1985, the Filmfare East Award for Best Actor in 1980, and the Deenbandhu Award in 2012.
