The last session of the five-year term of the Delhi Assembly began on Friday. On the first day, MPs from the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accused each other over the issue of dismissal of bus agents. Chief Minister Atishi said in the Assembly that the proposal to reinstate the marshals is pending with the Lieutenant Governor (LG). By raising the issue of bus agents in the Assembly, CM Atishi also made a big mistake.

Atishi made this mistake in the assembly.

CM Atishi spoke about the safety of women and girls inside DTC buses in the Assembly. Atishi said that before the Aam Aadmi Party government, why had no other government thought of appointing bus marshals? Atishi said in the Assembly that the Nirbhaya incident took place in Delhi. This heinous crime also took place on a DTC bus.

The bus belonged to a private company.

However, the statement given by Atishi in the Assembly on the Nirbhaya incident is completely wrong. The Nirbhaya incident that took place on the night of December 16, 2012 did not occur in a DTC bus but in a private company bus. This bus was registered with a company called Yadav Travels. The heinous crime of Nirbhaya incident was committed in this bus.

What else did Atishi say about the Marshall question?

Participating in the discussion in the Assembly, Atishi said that in his letter written on October 20, 2023, Kejriwal had said that bus officials should not be removed. Action should be taken against officials who suspended payment of their salaries. The ruling AAP MLAs attacked the BJP, alleging that it had managed to remove the marshals through the lieutenant governor, thus creating livelihood problems for their families.
