How will recovery be done? There is an electricity bill of Rs 1,250 crore pending in the Power Minister’s own district, the department has given up!

Gwalior is the home district of Madhya Pradesh Power Minister Pradyuman Singh Tomar.

In Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, the electricity department is adopting different tactics to recover pending electricity bills. Earlier the gun license had been ordered to be canceled for non-payment of outstanding electricity bills and now the electricity department is gearing up to collect outstanding electricity bills like banks, the responsibility of which has been handed over to the district administration. Now the electricity department will disconnect the connections and Tehsildar will recover the bills from these big defaulters.

The electricity department is now going to adopt a new strategy to recover the remaining amount from defaulters in electricity bills of Gwalior city. The electricity department will now disconnect connections of big defaulters with electricity bills of more than Rs 1 lakh. After this, the district administration will do the work of collecting bills from these consumers. Tehsildar of Revenue Department will attach property of defaulters to recover it from big defaulters.

This is the situation in Power Minister Pradyuman Singh Tomar’s home district.

Regarding the said order, Pradyuman Singh Tomar, a resident of Gwariyar and Power Minister in the Mohan state government, says that in MP we are providing cheap electricity, so paying the electricity bill is also the responsibility of the people. The electricity department prepares its recovery plans. Defaulters should also cooperate.

Pending electricity bill of Rs 1,250 crore

It is noteworthy that Gwalior consumers have outstanding electricity bills worth Rs 1,250 crore. The electricity department had deployed private guards along with the recovery team for recovery, but this plan failed. Following this, the electricity department issued notices to big defaulters and publicly hung their names on billboards at intersections. Even after this, the electricity dues could not be recovered.

The electricity department handed over responsibility for recovery to the administration

Finally, now the recovery of the electricity bill became the responsibility of the administration, just like the banks. Therefore, in Gwalior, the home district of Power Minister Pradyuman Singh Tomar, the electricity department has to work hard to recover the pending amount of Rs 1,250 crore. Consumers did not gain any benefit after receiving the notice and then making their names public at the intersection. Now, in a new move, the responsibility of recovery has fallen on the district administration and Tehsildar. It remains to be seen how effective this maneuver is for the electricity department to carry out the recovery.
