Farmers protested and said the government is giving less compensation for the land.
Bharat Mala National Highway (Aaj Samaj), Bathinda: On Thursday morning, under the Bharat Mala national highway, farmers’ lands were seized in the presence of police at Dunnewala and Shergarh villages in Bathinda. It may be noted that for a long time the road works were not started here only because the farmers were not giving possession of their lands saying that the government was giving them very less compensation for their lands.
When the farmers protested against the administration and the police under the banner of Bharatiya Kisan Union Ekta Ugrahan, the police dispersed the farmers using force. Ram Singh Block Sangat, farmer leader of Bharatiya Kisan Union Ekta Ugrahan, said that this morning a strong police force reached their villages Dunnewala and Shergarh and started taking possession of the land.

Farmer leaders made this accusation
The farmer leader alleged that land has been acquired from farmers for this National Highway, but very little compensation has been given to the farmer owners. For this reason, the farmers did not hand over possession of their valuable land to the administration, but today the administration, with the help of the police, has forcibly taken away their land from the farmers. He said if the farmers had received adequate compensation, they themselves would have handed over possession of the acquired land to the administration. The farmers said that if the administration takes possession of the land in this way with the help of the police, the farmers will also not remain silent.
