Now the SP has named Tej Pratap Yadav, a member of the Yadav family, its candidate for this seat, while the BJP has fielded Anujesh Yadav, son-in-law of Mulayam Singh Yadav and brother-in-law of Akhilesh. In this way, a political competition is taking place within the Yadav family in Karhal, which makes it even more interesting.

The nine seats in Uttar Pradesh where by-elections were held include Karhal, Ghaziabad, Phulpur, Sisamau, Kundarki, Katehari, Khair, Majhwan and Meerapur. The notification for these by-elections was issued on October 18 and nominations were accepted until October 25. The scrutiny of the candidacies took place on October 28, while the candidates withdrew their names until October 30. The vote took place on November 20.
