Counting of by-elections to nine Uttar Pradesh assembly seats continues. The results of the Muslim-dominated Kundarki election in western Uttar Pradesh have surprised everyone. In this seat held by the SP for a long time, the BJP is moving towards victory by giving a big surprise or one can say that the official announcement of the victory of the BJP candidate is yet to be made. According to the data till 1 pm, BJP candidate from Kundarki Thakur Ramveer Singh is leading with around 85 thousand votes.

He has attributed this increase to Muslims’ trust in him. He told TV9: “Since I didn’t even get a fine, the Muslims were one-sided. The Muslims had decided that this time they should give Ramveer a chance.” He further said that Muslims have broken the barriers of religion and caste and voted for the BJP.

While the results seem to indicate that Ramveer has managed to win the trust of Muslims, the SP has alleged that Muslims were not allowed to vote and that the vote was rigged. SP candidate Haji Rizwan had alleged that the voting for the Kundarki seat was not based on democracy but on monarchical politics.
