Maharashtra Elections 2024: Mahayuti Tsunami in Maharashtra, BJP leads strike rate

Maharashtra assembly elections.

In the Maharashtra Assembly elections, the BJP scored a hat-trick of victories with excellent seats. The electoral results graph seemed to rise even more than had been predicted in the exit polls. There was such a Mahayuti tsunami in Maharashtra that Mahavikas Aghadi could not stand anywhere. If we look at the election results, the majority to come to power in Maharashtra was 145, while Mahayuti also crossed the 200 mark. In these elections, the BJP has turned out to be more powerful than Shiv Sena and Shinde’s Ajit Pawar. In the elections, the BJP won 125 seats, Shinde’s Shiv Sena won 55 seats while Ajit Pawar’s party won 37 seats.

Even in the seat distribution and victory figures, it has been seen that the BJP’s strike rate exceeds that of all parties. The BJP had contested 145 seats in these elections, while it had won 124 seats. The BJP’s strike rate in the elections was 85.5%, while Shinde’s Shiv Sena contested 81 seats and won 55 seats. Shinde’s party’s strike rate has been 70%. Ajit Pawar’s party, contesting the assembly elections alone for the first time after parting ways with his uncle, contested 59 seats and won 37 seats. The party’s strike rate according to the election results was 62.7%.

Mahayuti’s strike rate in elections

  • BJP: 85.5% (124/145)
  • Shiv Sena (SHS): 70% (55/81)
  • PNC: 62.7% (37/59)

If we look at the performance of Mahavikas Aghadi in the elections, no party has been able to cross even the 20 mark. Congress, the largest party of Mahavikas Aghadi, contested the elections to win 102 seats, while it only won 19 seats. The Congressional strike rate in this election was 18.6%. Similarly, Uddhav’s Shiv Sena contested the elections on 92 seats and won 19 seats. The strike rate of Uddhav’s Shiv Sena was 20.6%, while the NCP party (Sharad faction) contested 86 seats and won 13 seats. The party’s strike rate in the elections was 15.1%.

Mahavikas Aghadi strike rate decline

  • Congress: 18.6% (19/102)
  • SHS-UBT: 20.6% (19/92)
  • PNC (SP): 15.1% (13/86)

If we look at the election results of Maharashtra, Mahavikas Aghadi looked completely defeated. Mahavikas Aghadi won 51 seats in the elections. No party in the MVA could even reach the figure of 28, necessary for the position of opposition leader. Experts believe that the reason for Mahayuti’s big victory was the party’s poor performance in the Lok Sabha elections. After the unexpected results in the Lok Sabha elections, the party suddenly changed its strategy, the effect of which was visible in the results of the assembly elections.

Maharashtra becomes the sixth state where the BJP wins for the third time in a row

With the victory in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, Mahayuti has also achieved a great record in his name. Maharashtra has become the sixth state in India where the BJP wins for the third time in a row. Goa, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh have been states where the BJP has come to power after winning three consecutive elections.

Worst performance of Congress and NCP (Sharad Pawar) so far

If we look at the results of the Maharashtra Assembly elections, these elections have been very disappointing for the Congress and for Sharad Pawar. This is the worst performance of Congress, NCP (Sharad Pawar) and Shiv Sena (UBT) so far. Sharad Pawar’s party has 13 seats. This is Sharad Pawar’s worst performance in his political career. Their strike rate in 2024 is only 15.1%. In 2014, under his leadership, the NCP won 41 seats, while in 2019 this figure was 54 seats. While in 2004, Congress won 69 seats, in 2009 it won 82 seats, in 2014 it won 42 seats and in 2019 it won 44 seats.
