Swara Bhaskar: The results of the 2024 Assembly elections in Maharashtra are almost out. The grand alliance of BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP has won a landslide victory in the state. As of 3 pm, Mahayuti leads with 226 seats in the state. At the same time, the opposition Congress, Shiv Sena UBT and NCP Sharad Pawar have suffered a crushing defeat. Actress Swara Bhaskar’s husband Fahadh Ahmed also lost the elections from the state seat of Anushakti Nagar. Following the results, Swara and Fahadh raised questions about EVM’s working style.
Who got how many votes?
In the elections, the NCP candidate, Sana Malik, obtained 49,341 votes and won the elections by 3,378 votes. While NCP Sharad Pawar faction candidate Fahad Ahmed came second and got 45,963 votes. In third position was Acharya Naveen Vidyadhar of MNS, who obtained 28,362 votes.
What did Swara allege?
Swara Bhaskar raised questions about EVM and said, “How can the EVM machine be charged to 99% even after the entire day of voting? The Election Commission should respond.” At the same time, Fahadh said, “After the 16th round and continuous leadership in all rounds, 99% loaded EVM machines were opened. After this, the NCP candidate (Ajit Pawar), supported by the BJP, took the lead. This is manipulation. We demand a recount of rounds 16, 17, 18 and 19.”
There was competition between Ajit and the Sharad group.
The main contest for the Anushakti Nagar seat was between the NCP-SP of the Sharad Pawar faction and the NCP of the Ajit Pawar faction. The NCP-SP had given the ticket to Fahadh Ahmed, husband of actress Swara Bhaskar, while the NCP had given the ticket to Sana Malik, the sitting MLA from here and daughter of its veteran leader Nawab Malik. Nawab Malik has been MLA from this seat twice.
