- Membership of six MLAs removed from CPC posts will remain intact

New Delhi/Shimla. The six chief parliamentary secretaries removed by the Himachal High Court will not lose their membership in the Assembly. These Congress leaders will remain MLAs. The Supreme Court has given a big relief to the Congress government of Himachal. A bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice PV Sanjay Kumar has stayed the High Court’s order to initiate disqualification proceedings against CPS-appointed MLAs till the next hearing.
Hearing the petition filed by the state government against the High Court decision, the top court said that in the meantime, MLAs should not be appointed CPS. The court said that if such appointments were made, they would be considered illegal. The court has given two weeks to the accused to file their counter affidavit. After this, the government will submit its response within two weeks. Along with this, the top court has said that now petitions from different states related to CPS will be heard together.
