Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar is heading for a major victory over his nephew and NCP (SP) rival Yugendra Pawar in the high-profile assembly constituency of Baramati. Sharad Pawar strongly supported Yugendra Pawar’s candidature. During the election campaign, Sharad Pawar also described Yugendra as Baramati’s successor.
Ajit Pawar is contesting elections from Baramati for the eighth time.
According to Election Commission data, Ajit Pawar, who is contesting from Baramati for the eighth time, got 1,78,109 votes, 99,045 votes more than Yugendra Pawar, who is contesting for the first time. Yugendra Pawar got 79,064 votes after 19 rounds of counting. Ajit Pawar’s election officer Kiran Gujar claimed that after the 18th round of counting out of 20, the NCP chief had gained a lead of 88,782 votes.
Ajit Pawar group’s NCP did wonders
Elections for the 288-member assembly were held in Maharashtra on November 20. Vote counting continues Saturday. As per the latest trends, the Ajit Pawar-led NCP is poised for an impressive performance in Maharashtra, with the party leading in 36 seats and winning four.
Sharad Pawar’s NCP wins 11 seats
On the contrary, the Sharad Pawar-led NCP leads with 11 seats. He has recorded victory in one. Ajit Pawar’s wife and Rajya Sabha member Sunetra Pawar thanked the people of Baramati and expressed hope that Ajit’s victory margin would cross one lakh.

Sunetra Pawar said, ‘I am grateful to the people of Baramati for once again reposing their faith in Ajit Pawar and uniting behind him. He showed that Baramati is his family. He said that Ajit Pawar’s victory is a recognition of the development done by him in Baramati. Let us tell you that in 2019 elections, Ajit Pawar won Baramati assembly constituency with the highest margin of 1,65,265.
