Ambedkar Nagar. Lotus bloomed in Katehari after 33 years. In the assembly by-elections, BJP candidate Dharamraj Nishad has handed a crushing defeat to the SP candidate. BJP candidate Dharamraj Nishad registered a historic victory by 33,828 votes. BJP candidate Dharamraj Nishad got 103,137 votes and SP candidate Shobhawati Verma got 69,309 votes. The counting of votes began at 8 am on Saturday amid tight security and in the first round of counting, Dharamraj Nishad got the lead and this lead continued for three rounds. In the fourth round, SP candidate Shobhavati Verma took the lead and this lead continued till the eleventh round. After this, Dharamraj Nishad again took the lead in the twelfth round and then the margin of his lead kept increasing continuously until the last round and the BJP managed to win the elections. As soon as the BJP gained victory, workers and officials were drowned in celebration. Abir started playing the drums with Gulal. Dharamraj Nishad has been elected MLA from Katehri for the fourth time. Prior to this, he was elected BSP’s Katehri MLA three times. After registering the victory, Dharamraj Nishad said that this victory is the victory of the public and the workers. He also expressed his gratitude to the top management. BSP candidate Amit Verma came third with 41,451 votes. Azad Samaj Party’s Rajesh Kumar came fourth by securing 5,132 votes. Govind Kumar stood fifth by securing 1,643 votes. Ram Naresh 1033, Neelam Singh 864, Ayodhya 737, Mohammad Asad 693. Shatrughan got 550 votes.
