Chandigarh News: Chandigarh, Sanjay Arora As per the directions of Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria, a series of initiatives aimed at promoting national pride, responsibility and patriotism have been launched in government schools from November 11, 2024.
As part of these efforts, the singing of patriotic songs and poems during morning assemblies is now included in all public schools. Gulab Chand Kataria highlighted: “Fostering unity and integrity within a country is vital for national stability, progress and collective well-being. “This initiative will significantly contribute to promoting unity and integrity, which is vital to building stronger and more cohesive communities across the country.”
School teachers are playing an important role by leading by example, demonstrating patriotic behavior and enthusiasm, and encouraging critical thinking on national issues. Furthermore, they have been instructed to integrate patriotic values into their daily teaching practices.
Schools have been provided with a list of suggested activities to deepen students’ patriotic sentiment.
What includes:
Include topics in school assemblies that focus on the country’s struggle for independence, its Constitution, and major national events.
Recite patriotic songs, poems, and stories that reflect the country’s culture and values during morning assembly or throughout the school day.
Host trivia contests, essay contests, and debates focused on patriotic topics.
Invite veterans or freedom fighters to share their experiences with the students.
Organize the screening of patriotic films or documentaries. Make advertising posters focusing on national issues and achievements in schools.
Invite students to design patriotic banners, logos, or slogans.
Teach students to respect national symbols and follow the flag code.
Celebrating days of national importance and birthdays of martyrs and freedom fighters with special programs. Through these activities, the Chandigarh administration aims to inculcate a deep sense of national pride and unity in the students, and make them responsible citizens who value the rich history and traditions of the country.
