New Delhi, November 23. Union Minister for Power, Housing and Urban Development Manohar Lal gave a big gift to Ladakh. Homeless people will get housing in Ladakh and the state’s hilltops will be illuminated by solar energy. The Ministry of Power, Housing and Urban Development of the Central Government has prepared a roadmap to rebuild Ladakh. The Union Territory will be self-sufficient in power generation through solar energy.
During the three-day visit, Union Minister for Power, Housing and Urban Development Manohar Lal not only reviewed the plans of the Central Government and expressed his commitment towards the development of the state. During his visit to Ladakh, Union Minister Manohar Lal, while reviewing the power, housing and urban development projects, gave directions to complete the ongoing projects under Prime Minister Deendayal’s Package by the month of December.
Union Minister Manohar Lal believes that Ladakh has immense potential for solar energy development. Therefore, to make Ladakh self-sufficient in power generation, a solar power plant with a capacity of 13 gigawatts is being set up.
During his visit to Ladakh, Union Minister Manohar Lal visited CESL’s first renewable energy powered electric vehicle charging station in Leh. This electric vehicle charging station is an important step towards energy self-sufficiency for the region. We reported that NHPC’s 45 MW Nemo-Bajgo hydropower plant in Leh was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
There will be a survey of homeless people
Housing and Urban Development Minister Manohar Lal gifted houses to the people of Ladakh region. He clarified that all homeless people in Ladakh will be surveyed and given houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. He made it clear to the officials that no person should be left homeless in Ladakh. Under the Pradhan Mantri Swanidhi Yojana, financial assistance has been provided to all street vendors and efforts will be made to ensure that no person is deprived of it.
There will be water supply in Leh and Kargil
Water supply will be provided in Leh and Kargil areas of Ladakh. In this regard, the detailed project report (DPR) of water supply and sewage treatment plants (STP) projects will be carried out under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) 2.0. A penalty of Rs 1,080 crore will be imposed to reconstruct the Union Territory. At the same time, the central government meets the additional electricity demand for the state during the winter season. Power supply and distribution lines will be established up to Nubra and Zanskar Valley.
Manohar appreciated the art of trash
Garbage removal is a big challenge but garbage in Leh city is enhancing the beauty of the city. The unique sculpture was created by the local administration from waste and waste materials. Union Power Minister Manohar Lal appreciated seeing the art on waste and said these efforts will prove helpful in achieving the goal of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Manohar Lal visits the Waste-to-Art sculpture site in Leh. Ladakh aims to achieve 100 per cent processing of waste materials.
