The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) scored an excellent victory in the assembly elections in Maharashtra. Senior BJP leadership couple Bhupendra Yadav and Ashwini Vaishnav have played an important role in ensuring the party’s victory in Maharashtra after Madhya Pradesh. Last year, the Yadav-Vaishnav duo was entrusted with the responsibility of leading the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) election campaign in Madhya Pradesh. The party maintained its power by winning 163 of 230 seats in the state assembly.

Bhupendra Yadav and Ashwini Vaishnav took the responsibility.

The leadership of the BJP’s election campaign in Maharashtra also fell to Bhupendra Yadav and Ashwini Vaishnav. The two Union ministers camped in the state for several months to sway voters in favor of the BJP in the assembly elections, following the party’s poor showing in the Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra.

Fadnavis congratulated Bhupendra Yadav

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis congratulated Bhupendra Yadav after trends emerged in vote counting and indicated a landslide victory for the Mahayuti (alliance of BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP). In Maharashtra, the BJP is on track to win over 130 seats, its best result yet in the state assembly elections.

Both were appointed in-charge and co-in-charge of Maharashtra.

However, in the Lok Sabha elections held in April-May, it had to be content with only nine seats, while in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections it won 23 seats. Yadav and Vaishnav were appointed in-charge and co-incharge respectively for the Maharashtra elections in June, days after the results of the Lok Sabha elections were declared. Both leaders swung into action and reached out to disaffected sections within the party and various smaller caste groups as the BJP grappled with the challenge posed by the Maratha reservation movement led by reservation activist Manoj Jarange.

Last time, the BJP won 105 seats.

Union Environment Minister Yadav was also in charge of the BJP during the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections, when the party won 105 seats, while the undivided Shiv Sena, led by Uddhav Thackeray, won 56 seats. . However, Shiv Sena broke the alliance with the BJP after differences over the post of Chief Minister. The government was formed with the cooperation of the Congress and the undivided Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
