The Congress Working Committee (CWC) in its meeting on Friday discussed in detail the results of the recent assembly elections and many other important issues facing the party. This meeting was held at the Congress headquarters under the chairmanship of party president Mallikarjun Kharge.
Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi, organization general secretary KC Venugopal, communication in-charge Jairam Ramesh and many senior Congress leaders were present in the meeting. The party reviewed the defeat in the recent Assembly elections in Maharashtra and Haryana and discussed future strategies and the Delhi Assembly elections.
Brainstorming about election results
During the meeting, the leaders discussed the defeat suffered by Congress and its allies in the recent assembly elections. The party’s crushing defeat in Maharashtra has forced Congress leaders to introspect. Earlier, the Congress had also suffered a shock defeat in the Haryana Assembly elections.
According to sources, the Congress Working Committee is evaluating the party’s performance in the elections. Apart from this, there is also a chance to discuss the issue related to Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) in the meeting. Some party leaders believe there is a need to raise questions about EVMs and make this issue part of the broader public opinion.
Debate on strategy for the next elections
The meeting specifically discussed the Delhi Assembly elections. The party shared its views on issues like election strategy, campaigning and candidate selection in Delhi. Furthermore, the need to develop a strong and effective strategy for the upcoming elections was emphasized.

The meeting also considered the current political and economic scenario of the country. Congress raised questions about the central government’s policies on inflation, unemployment and the state of the economy. The leaders expressed concern about growing inequality and the weak rate of economic growth in the country.

After the meeting, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said, ‘This is the time for introspection and organized efforts. We plan to hold firm even in those areas where our performance has been weak.
The meeting also discussed how Congress can convey its message to the public more effectively. In the meeting, Rahul Gandhi appealed to party workers to work at the grassroots level and highlighted the need to increase public relations.
