- Hybrid model to be discussed, Pakistan not ready for it

New Delhi. On Friday there will be an important meeting of ICC, the world cricket body, in connection with the Champions Trophy. There will be discussion about the tournament program. A few days ago, the BCCI had told the ICC that it would not send its team to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. This tournament is organized by PCB. India says that like the last Asia Cup, the Champions Trophy should also be organized on a hybrid model, but Pakistan is not ready for it.
There is the possibility of finding a solution regarding the program in this meeting that will be held virtually. Meanwhile, the PCB has clarified its stance on the hybrid model amid the discussions. He has informed ICC before the meeting that he does not accept the hybrid model. The PCB has also asked the ICC not to discuss the hybrid model option during the meeting. On the other hand, the ICC members are trying to convince the PCB that without the India-Pakistan match, the Champions Trophy will lose its luster and, most importantly, will lead to huge financial losses. The tournament’s main broadcaster has already contacted senior ICC officials to express disappointment at the delay in reaching a final decision on the programme.
