There will be no charge for applying for e-PAN card via email. At the same time, charges will have to be paid for the physical PAN. According to the Income Tax Department’s FAQ, for physical PAN card, the applicant has to pay a prescribed fee of Rs 50 (domestic). For delivery of PAN card outside India, the applicant will be charged Rs 15 + Indian Postal Charges. Although the PAN 2.0 project is yet to be launched, taxpayers and individuals can currently receive their PAN on their email ID. If no email ID is registered in the Income Tax database, taxpayers can update the email address in the Income Tax database free of cost under the PAN 2.0 project.

Steps to get PAN card from NSDL website

  • Step 1: Visit the link: https://www.onlineservices.nsdl.com/paam/requestAndDownloadEPAN.html
  • Step 2: On the web page, enter the following information: PAN, Aadhaar (only for individuals), Date of Birth.
  • Step 3: After entering the required information, select the appropriate boxes and click Submit.
  • Step 4: A new web page will open on your screen, where you will need to check your current updated details with the Income Tax Department. You will be asked to select the option where you want to receive the One Time Password (OTP).
  • Step 5: Enter OTP and verify. Remember that the OTP will be valid for 10 minutes.
  • Step 6: Select the payment method. Select the checkbox to accept the terms.
  • Step 7: Check the payment amount and “Confirm payment”.
  • Step 8: Once payment is made, click Continue.
  • Step 9: Once the payment is successful, the PAN will be delivered to the email ID updated in the Income Tax database.

It may take up to 30 minutes to receive PAN on your registered email ID. If you do not receive PAN in your email ID, you can send an email to [email protected] with payment details. Alternatively, taxpayers can also call their customer care number at 020 – 27218080 or 020 – 27218081.
