Damascus: Information is emerging about a major attack on the city of Palmyra in Syria. 36 people have died in this attack. According to an AP report, Syrian rebels have infiltrated the city of Aleppo after detonating two car bombs. Syrian rebel groups have claimed on Telegram that they have captured more than 40 Syrian government military bases. In a few hours they managed to capture many villages in the city of Aleppo. In 2020, with Türkiye’s help, an agreement was reached between the rebels and the Assad government, which reduced major attacks there.

This is how the civil war in Syria began

The civil war in Syria began with the Arab Spring in 2011. Pro-democracy supporters began protests against the dictatorial government of Bashar al-Assad, who has been in power in Syria since 2000. After this, a rebel group formed called Free Syrian Army. With the formation of the rebel group, the civil war in Syria began. This conflict escalated further after the United States, Russia, Iran, and Saudi Arabia joined it. Meanwhile, the terrorist organization ISIS had also set foot here.

More than 3 lakh people died

After the 2020 ceasefire agreement, only sporadic clashes have occurred here. According to the United Nations report, more than 3 lakh people died in the decade-long civil war. Apart from this, thousands of people had to be displaced.
