Raipur: The Central Government has approved the construction of 15,000 houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY-Gramin) for families of surrendered Naxalites affected by Maoist violence. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai gave this information on Friday. The CM said that families affected by surrendered Naxalites and Left-wing extremism will get these houses under the state’s rehabilitation policy. This initiative is a big step towards bringing them into the mainstream.

CM Sai said that these are not only houses but also a symbol of respect and security for these families. Vishnu Dev Sai said that our government will implement this plan with complete transparency and promptness. The Chief Minister said the Chhattisgarh government is committed to providing a better life to families affected by Maoist violence as well as surrendered Naxalites. This step will be helpful in achieving the goals of social harmony and development.

Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma said that under this initiative, the Superintendent of Police will provide the list of surrendered Naxalites and families affected by Naxalite violence to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the District Panchayat for verification. After verification, the land will be identified for the beneficiaries through the Collector. On this basis, the process of construction of houses will be started as per PMAY guidelines.

A statement from the state government said the approval for these 15,000 houses came after a recent meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. He said the scheme will specifically cater to those families whose names were not included in the Socio-Economic Caste Census 2011 and Housing Plus 2018. The central government has given permission to upload these names on the Awas Plus portal till December 6 this year. , according to the statement.
