The SAREX-24 war exercise was launched on Friday under the leadership of the Indian Coast Guard in Kochi. This exercise is the eleventh edition of the National Maritime Search and Rescue (SAR). The objective of this exercise is to showcase the rapid and effective response capability of the Indian Coast Guard. During this, Indian Coast Guard soldiers demonstrated their strength and dedication.
During the exercise, soldiers of the Indian Coast Guard show their bravery among the waves of the sea. On this occasion, Defense Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and Indian Coast Guard Director General S. El Parmesh must also be present.
Large scale search and rescue operation
The main objective of the SAREX-24 exercise is to demonstrate rapid and effective rescue operations in crisis situations. During the exercise, a large-scale search and rescue (SAR) operation was carried out off the Kochi coast involving personnel of ICG, Indian Navy, ships and aircraft of the Indian Air Force , Kochi Port Authority passenger ships and tugboats and Customs ships. .
Two important operations were carried out during the year. The first operation showed a situation with 500 passengers on board a passenger ship. The second operation included efforts to save 250 passengers after a civilian airliner crashed.

In the second operation, a civilian aircraft lost contact with Air Traffic Control (ATC) and disappeared from radar about 150 nautical miles northwest of Kochi. A massive rescue operation (MRO) was launched shortly after.
