Hyderabad: The Telangana government has withdrawn the land acquisition process to set up a “pharmaceutical village” in Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s Kodangal assembly constituency, where officials were attacked earlier this month. According to an official statement released on Friday, the government plans to establish a multi-purpose industrial park in its place.

Land acquisition proposal was delivered in three months

The government had proposed to acquire land in Lagacharla and Polepalli villages of Vikarabad district about three months ago, but withdrew the proposal. He said the government has made fresh proposals to acquire land for setting up an industrial park and the Vikarabad district collector on Friday appointed Tandur sub-collector as land acquisition officer (LAO).

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had on November 23 said the government would consider the cases registered against the farmers but would not forgive the perpetrators of the attack on government officials in Lagacharla village during a public hearing on land acquisition. on November 11. He also said that an industrial corridor would be established in Kodangal Assembly constituency with an aim to generate employment for youth and women.

More than 20 BRS leaders included among those detained

The CM said that as the MLA of Kodangal, it is his responsibility to develop the constituency. Former BRS MLA Patnam Narendra Reddy was among more than 20 people arrested in connection with the attack on the officials. BRS has alleged that innocent farmers were arrested and the police acted arbitrarily in connection with the incident.

We reported that on November 11, Vikarabad DM Prateek Jain held a public hearing to find out the opinion of people near Hakimpet, about 40 minutes from Kodangal. However, villagers of Dudayal, Lagacherla, Roti Banda Thanda and Pochepalli boycotted the hearing. He organized a protest in the town of Lagacherla. When the Collector arrived in town without security personnel, the protest turned violent. Protesters surrounded the officers. When the officers left, they also threw stones at government vehicles.
