The previous anti-record was recorded on November 25, when 75,961 cases of infection were detected per day. Since the beginning of the epidemic, the infection has been detected in 5,650,170 residents of the Federal Republic of Germany. From the consequences of the disease caused by the coronavirus, 357 patients died in the country in 24 hours. The total number of deaths during the entire pandemic in Germany reached 100,476. 4,775,300 people recovered.
The seven-day spread of coronavirus in Germany (the number of cases of infection during the week per 100 thousand people) has also reached a new record value of 438.2. On Thursday it was 419.7, last week – 340.7, and a month ago it was at the level – 113. The number of hospitalized patients with coronavirus per 100 thousand inhabitants over seven days – an important indicator for possible restrictions on public life – is 5 , 79.
In recent weeks, the incidence of COVID-19 in Germany has been growing rapidly. November 18, acting German Chancellor Angela Merkel held a meeting with the heads of the federal states, following which a new package of measures was adopted to curb the spread of infection. If earlier the main criterion for choosing restrictive measures by the authorities was the seven-day morbidity rate, now the hospitalization index is the decisive factor.
In this regard, the country introduces three different levels of occupancy of clinics (3, 6 and 9), in accordance with which certain restrictions will be approved. In addition, according to the decision of the authorities, all workers in the care of the elderly and the disabled must undergo compulsory vaccination against coronavirus.
