Despite the fact that in June they fixed
various periods with valley prices (cheap), flat (media) and tip (expensive), this reality changed with urgent measures to mitigate the impact of the escalation of natural gas prices in the gas and electricity retail markets.
Specifically, the decree law includes the fall in the income of nuclear, hydraulic and some renewables, the temporary reduction of the special tax on electricity from 5.11 to 0.5% and the reduction until the end of the year by 90% of the electrical system charges.
All this caused the sections established at first to jump into the air. A
new mess on the electricity bill That forces consumers to adapt again.
Why does the light go up?
So far in November the price of electricity in the wholesale market is 183 euros / MWh. Although the average is about 17 euros less than that of October, compared to last year or the beginning of the year the increase in the cost of electricity is very high.
This increase in prices has two main causes: high gas prices in the markets and high carbon dioxide (CO2) emission rights, which are at all-time highs this year. Also, this week three stand
nuclear power plants(Almaraz, Cofrentes and Ascó I) for refueling and maintenance work.
As a result of the price escalation, the Government increased the
discount on the electricity bill granted by the social bonus to vulnerable consumers. Specifically, it will go from 25% to 60% (from 40% to 70% for the severely vulnerable) until March 31, 2022.
The Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge explains that to access the social bonus it is necessary to be covered by the Voluntary Price for the Small Consumer (PVPC) -the rate corresponding to the regulated electricity market- and comply with personal and family requirements and established income.
