An incident has come to light in which a rape accused was released while attacking a police team in Gopalganj village under Campierganj police station area of Gorakhpur. The incident occurred in the evening when the police team had gone to arrest the accused. The villagers gathered and started throwing stones at the police. Seriously injured in this stone pelting were Trainee Sub-Inspector Sachin Singh and Constable Ajit Kumar, who suffered head injuries.
The policemen were immediately admitted to the Campierganj nursing home, where SSP Gaurav Grover met the injured policemen and inquired about their well-being. Currently all the injured police officers are out of danger. After the attack, the police cordoned off the area and arrested the mother and two sisters of the accused. He is accused of attacking the police.

Rahul Nishad, a resident of a village in the Campierganj police station area, has reportedly been accused of raping a minor. Following the complaint of the victim’s father, the police had registered a case under rape and the POCSO Act. The victim’s statement was also taken in court. The accused Rahul absconded after the incident. The police were looking for him. The police received information on Wednesday night that the accused was at his house.
Police arrested the accused mother and sister.
After this incident, the police were deployed in the village and a search is on for the absconding accused. On this incident, SSP Gaurav Grover said that a separate case will be registered in case of attack on police and strict action will be taken against the accused.
