The entire country is all set to celebrate Diwali on the 31st. Meanwhile, the Directorate of School Education, Jammu has declared five-day school holidays for all educational institutions up to higher secondary levels. In view of the Diwali festival, all public and private schools will remain closed from October 29 to November 2, 2024. There will also be a festive Sunday on November 3 and after the puja holiday, schools will reopen on November 4 .

What was said in the notice?

The District Magistrate has issued a notice in this regard on its official website. Students and parents can check the notice by visiting the official website schedujammu.nic.in. At the same time, the official order states: “All government/private academic institutions up to higher secondary levels (summer/winter zone) of Jammu division are advised to observe 5 days puja holiday from October 29 to November 2, 2024. The order is given.

I have a total of 6 days of leave.

This 6-day holiday will give students and parents an opportunity to celebrate the festival with full enthusiasm. Given past trends, no extension of the holiday is expected. However, students are advised to stay in touch with the school authorities and regularly visit the official website of DSEJ for latest updates.

Schools to remain closed in Tamil Nadu too

Apart from Jammu, Tamil Nadu has also declared a holiday on November 1, 2024 in all schools, colleges and government offices in the state. The state government has declared November 1 as a public holiday to allow people to celebrate Diwali and return home. Other states like Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh have also announced holidays in their states. Students and parents have been advised to continue visiting the respective schools’ websites for the latest updates regarding school holidays.
