Airtel, Jio and Vodafone Idea have joined hands to achieve seamless connectivity in the areas affected by Cyclone Dana. The three private telecommunications companies have opened the roaming service within the circle, thanks to which users will be able to make calls using the network of any telecommunications operator. This cyclonic storm will affect the coastal areas of West Bengal, Orissa, Andhra Pradesh as well as the northeastern states including Bihar, Jharkhand and Telangana. Winds blowing at speeds ranging between 100 kilometers per hour and 120 kilometers per hour and heavy rain are forecast.

Jio made preparations

Reliance Jio has enabled ICR i.e. intra-circle roaming service for cyclone affected areas. For this, Jio has joined hands with Airtel, Vodafone-Idea and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited. During an emergency, Jio users will be able to avail the facility to call using the signal of any telecom operator. Apart from this, Jio has installed backup power in these areas, so that the mobile network continues to function smoothly.

Airtel Backup Plan

Airtel has also created a 24/7 war room for seamless connectivity in storm-affected areas, with additional backup systems for the network. To ensure that users continue to get mobile connectivity during emergencies, Airtel has also enabled ICR i.e. intra-circle roaming. Airtel users will also be able to stay connected to their family members in case of emergency using any other telecom operator’s network.

Vi also shook his hand.

Like Airtel and Jio, Vi (Vodafone Idea) has also started ICR i.e. intra-circle roaming facility in the cyclone affected areas. Additionally, a 24/7 war room has been prepared which will provide additional power backup and network connectivity in the affected area. Along with the three private telecom companies, BSNL has also made full preparations to deal with the emergency.
