Congress pressure now seems to be working in the assembly by-elections in Uttar Pradesh. According to sources, late in the night there was a conversation between Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and SP president Akhilesh Yadav. After that, it is now believed that the Samajwadi Party may leave the Phulpur seat for the Congress.
The Samajwadi Party has already vacated the Ghaziabad and Khair assembly seats for the Congress and has also made a formal announcement in this regard. However, the Congress seemed dissatisfied after receiving two seats. The Congress party demanded that it be given a seat in Phulpur as well. But the SP had already fielded its candidate from Phulpur. The SP had announced the entry of Mustafa Siddiqui from Phulpur, who lost by just 2,000 votes in the last election.
SP will announce the places this afternoon
Now the SP will announce all the remaining seats for Congress this afternoon. There was a demand from the Congress to give 5 seats in the by-elections, but the names of 7 Samajwadi Party candidates were announced. The Congress was dissatisfied with this decision of the SP.
According to sources, Congress UP in-charge Avinash Pandey, Ajay Rai and Aradhana Mishra were also in touch with SP leaders, but the SP was not willing to give up more than two seats.
