There is a flood like situation in Anantapur of Andhra Pradesh and people are living a difficult life. Since the night of Monday, October 21, heavy rains fell in the city of Anantapur and other parts of the district, resulting in many residential areas of the city being submerged. Traffic on the Hyderabad-Bangalore National Highway 44 was adversely affected as rainwater washed away the road at Penukonda.
The rain that began around 11pm on Monday night continued until the morning of Tuesday, October 22. The Pandameru drain on the outskirts of Anantapur overflowed, submerging many parts of the city. People living in low-lying areas of Anantapur were evacuated to safe places.

At Guttur in Penukonda mandal, rainwater flooded the road and traffic came to a standstill for a few hours. After receiving information that the situation was worsening, the police arrived at the scene and began monitoring the situation.
Water flowing from the Muktapur tank at Kanaganpalle reached the road and also entered a local filling station.

Apart from Anantapur, many low-lying areas of Satya Sai district have been submerged due to heavy rains. A traffic jam of over two kilometers occurred on the highway near Muktapuram on Tuesday after the highway was flooded due to burst irrigation tank at Kanaganipalli.
A petrol station near Muktapuram reportedly remained submerged under water for several hours. Due to the sudden burst of clouds, many colonies of Anantapur city were submerged including Auto Nagar, TV Tower, Chinmay Nagar, RDT stadium area, Nara Lokesh Colony and Upparapalli Jaganna Colony. In some places, when the water level began to rise, people evacuated their homes and reached safe places.
