Central government’s Diwali gift to thousands of country’s pensioners gave this order

The central government has given Diwali gifts to thousands of pensioners in the country. The government on Wednesday issued an order to provide additional share of dearness relief to pensioners. On October 16, the Union Cabinet approved an additional three per cent installment of Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for central government employees as well as pensioners. This increase was made from July 1, 2024. Let us also tell you what kind of order the government has given.

Great decision by the central government

The Ministry of Personnel said in the statement that the Department of Pension and Pensioners Welfare issued an order to all Central Government pensioners/family pensioners on October 30, 2024. According to the statement, now central government pensioners including Family pensioners are entitled to receive a higher amount of dearness allowance and dearness relief. Under this, they will receive 53 per cent of dearness allowance and dearness relief instead of 50 per cent of their basic pension/family pension. This increase will take effect as of July 1. This means that pensioners will receive the outstanding amount due to the increase in the benefit of the last four months. At present, the number of Central Government retirees in the country is around 65 lakh. Due to increase in dearness allowance and dearness relief, the burden on the central government will increase by Rs 9,448 crore.

53 percent inflation relief

After the cabinet decision on October 16, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had given information saying that the government had increased dearness allowance and dearness relief for central government employees and pensioners. This increase has been made by 3 percent. After which dearness allowance and dearness relief were increased from 50 per cent to 53 per cent. More than 1.14 million employees and retirees in the country will benefit from this. However, this is the first time after Covid that the Central Government has increased dearness allowance and dearness relief by 3 per cent. The government had previously granted a 4 percent increase.
