China’s space mission: China launched its Shenzhou-19 space mission on Wednesday. As part of this mission, three Chinese astronauts left for the Tiangong space station on a six-month mission. The special thing is that China’s first female space engineer participated in this mission. The Tiangong team will carry out experiments under the space program, which aims to send astronauts to the Moon by 2030 and build a base there.

successful launch

The mission took off at 4:27 a.m. (Beijing time) from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China, the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA) said. Ten minutes into the mission launch, the Shenzhou-19 spacecraft separated from the rocket and entered its designated orbit. CMSA said all the astronauts are absolutely fine and the launch was a complete success.

Who is involved in the mission?

The Nazhou-19 crew includes mission commander Cai Xuezhe, astronauts Song Lingdong and Wang Haoze. Wang Haojie is China’s only female spaceflight engineer. Cai Xuezhe is an experienced astronaut, he had also previously traveled to space on the Shenzhou-14 mission in 2022. Song and Wang, part of the third group of Chinese astronauts, are going to space for the first time.

Astronauts face challenges

Astronauts face many challenges on the mission, including conducting space science and applications testing, installing protective devices, and installing additional vehicle payloads and instruments. CMSA spokesperson Lin Ziqiang said before the launch that they will carry out research and technology experiments in space science, covering a wide range of fields, including space life sciences, fundamental microgravity physics, science of space materials, space medicine and new space technologies.

when will you return

According to the China Manned Space Agency, Shenzhou-19 astronauts will return to the Dongfeng landing site in northern China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in late April or early May next year. The CMSA revealed in April that China had launched more than 130 scientific research and application projects on its space station.
