The case of the death of businessman Mohit Pandey (30 years old) in police custody in Lucknow, capital of Uttar Pradesh, is a hot topic. On Monday, Mohit’s family met Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at his official residence. CM Yogi took information about the incident from the family and consoled them. The Chief Minister has also assured that action will be taken against the guilty police officers in this case. The Chief Minister has provided financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh to the family.

Mohit Pandey’s family along with BJP MLA Yogesh Shukla from Bakshi Talab seat in Lucknow reached the Chief Minister’s official residence around 10 am. I met CM Yogi Adityanath here. During this, the Chief Minister said that all possible help will be provided to the victim’s family. The government will take responsibility for the education of children. No guilty police officer will be spared. CM Yogi said this whole matter is in my notice. Strict action will be taken after investigation.

FIR against police inspector and others

Let us tell you that the matter is with the Chinhat police station in Lucknow. Here a young man named Mohit Pandey died in police custody. An FIR has been registered against the in-charge of Chinhat police station and others on charges of murder and criminal conspiracy in the case. The family alleges that Mohit was beaten to death by the police.

The official statement said that SHO/Inspector Ashwini Chaturvedi of Chinhat Police Station has been suspended with immediate effect in view of the allegations and a case has been registered against him.

The opposition surrounded the government over the incident.

Opposition parties have expressed their displeasure over this incident. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said the word police custody should be changed to torture house. Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra alleged that the BJP has established a jungle raj in the state where the police have become synonymous with brutality.

Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati termed this incident condemnable and said the government should take effective steps to bring justice to the victim’s family.

Mohit Kumar, a resident of Jainabad in Chinhat area, was arrested in a case on Saturday. Police said Mohit died at a hospital while in custody. Family members cited police brutality as the cause of death. The victim’s mother filed a complaint. The Additional Commissioner has registered an FIR against SHO Chaturvedi and some unidentified persons, including others, under sections 103 (1) (punishment for murder) and 61 (2) (criminal conspiracy) of the BNS.

In the case of businessman Mohit, although the cause of death is not clear in the chief minister’s report, four injuries are mentioned on his body. Mohit’s post-mortem report also mentions four injuries near his head, hands and waist. Police say Adesh, businessman Mohit’s partner, was assaulted. The wound marks are his.

In fact, after a dispute over a children’s fight, the police arrested Mohit and his brother and Mohit lost his life in custody. According to family members’ allegations, Mohit was brutally beaten in custody. The investigation of the case has been handed over to Gomti Nagar police station. On the other hand, Lucknow police issued a statement saying that the cause of death is not clear from the post-mortem report. The viscera have also been preserved.
