Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has made a big announcement for the people of the state. This announcement will greatly benefit those people who are interested in studying Sanskrit. Yesterday, CM Yogi went to Sampurnanand Sanskrit University among all the students and announced that the government will now provide them financial assistance for their studies.

Gurukul-style Sanskrit schools to be built

Yogi Adityanath on Sunday launched the scholarship scheme for all Sanskrit students across the state in the university. He also announced a plan to revive Gurukul-style Sanskrit residential schools in the state. In his words, the Chief Minister highlighted the potential of Sanskrit as a language for scientific and technical education and urged the students to adopt it seriously.

‘To defend Sanskrit is to defend humanity’

He said, “Defending Sanskrit is tantamount to defending humanity” and noted that previous governments had neglected education on the subject. Addressing the gathering, Adityanath said, “Sanskrit is not only a ‘God’s speech’ but also a scientific language that can be applied in modern fields like computer science and artificial intelligence.” He pointed out its unique characteristics that make it simple and technologically friendly, and expressed the government’s commitment to its conservation and promotion.

Importance of the scholarship plan explained

Explaining the importance of the scholarship scheme, CM Yogi said that earlier only 300 Sanskrit students were eligible for the scholarship and even then there was an age restriction. Now this new initiative aims to benefit all eligible students. He also directed all students to open bank accounts to ensure direct and secure transfer of the scholarship amount. He took the initiative to distribute scholarships worth Rs 586 lakh to 69,195 students across the state.

Start of Gurukul education system announced

Emphasizing Sanskrit and Indian cultural heritage, he announced plans to restart the Gurukul education system in the state. “This traditional system is the real strength of the country and can propel India towards global leadership,” he said. Gurukul institutions will be given additional assistance, in which special assistance will be provided to those who arrange free accommodation and food for students. These institutions will also have the right to hire qualified teachers.
