The last retention date of IPL 2025 has just arrived and now the chaos has increased. No team has released their retention list yet. The BCCI has set a deadline of October 31, so all the teams will make this announcement on the same day, but many shocking reports are continuously coming to light. Now comes one of those surprising reports about Chennai Super Kings. It is claimed that there is little chance of star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja being retained. Ravindra Jadeja was also named CSK captain in 2022 but was removed mid-season.

Will CSK release Jadeja?

Ravindra Jadeja has been a part of Chennai Super Kings for the last 14 years (except 2 years of ban) and has played an important role in making the team champions. In such a situation, it was believed that just like the previous mega auction, this time it would also take first place in retention. Now, a latest report claims that Jadeja may be released. In a RevSportz YouTube live, it is stated that Ravindra Jadeja’s retention is not confirmed. That means the franchise can release him as well.

Chennai had signed him for Rs 16 crore in 2022 but this time it doesn’t seem certain to happen. If Chennai does this, there can obviously be fierce competition among many teams to get Jadeja in the mega auction. However, even after that, Chennai will have the option to acquire Jadeja by matching the highest bid through ‘Right to Match’.

He was champion the last time.

Jadeja played an important role in making Chennai champions in 2023. While chasing the target in the final against Gujarat Titans, Jadeja played an explosive innings in the final overs and helped Chennai win the IPL for the fifth time by scoring a four in the last ball If Jadeja is not retained, current team captain Rituraj Gaikwad will surely be the first to be retained. That means they will get the most retention. Apart from them, Sri Lankan fast bowler Matisha Pathirana is also certain to be retained while the situation is unclear at the moment as to who should be retained between Devon Conway, Rachin Ravindra and Shivam Dubey.
