Cyclone ‘Dana’, which originated in the Bay of Bengal, hit the Odisha coast. It is currently raining heavily in Odisha and West Bengal. Strong winds are blowing. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), ‘Dana’ is likely to make landfall until Friday morning. IMD said the storm moved northwest at a speed of 15 kilometers per hour in the last six hours and then arrived between Bhitarkanika in Kendrapara district and Dhamra in Bhadrak district. During this period the wind speed was about 120 kilometers per hour.
After the arrival of ‘Dana’, strong winds and heavy rains continue in many areas of Odisha. Due to this, trees have been uprooted in many areas. The ‘Dana’ effect is also being observed in West Bengal. It rains a lot here with strong winds. When Cyclone ‘Dana’ hit the Odisha coast on Friday morning, its speed was 120 kilometers per hour.
‘Dana’ moves at a speed of 10 kilometers per hour
The Meteorological Department reported that the cyclonic storm ‘Dana’ is moving towards the northwest at a speed of 10 kilometers per hour. Today i.e. Friday morning around 5.30 am it made landfall in the northern coastal region of Odisha. Its center was about 20 kilometers northwest of Dhamra in Bhadrak district and 40 kilometers northwest of the Habalikhati (Bhitarkanika) nature camp.
The next 24 hours are very important.
The Meteorological Department said that the process of landslides due to Cyclone ‘Dana’ continues. The rear of the cyclone is entering land. The landslide process will continue for the next 1-2 hours. It is likely to move west-northwestwards over northern Odisha. By this morning it will gradually weaken and become a cyclonic storm. Right now, high waves are increasing. Because of this, the water can reach up to two or three kilometers in coastal areas. It has been advised to exercise extreme security during the next 24 hours.

Due to Cyclone ‘Dana’, there is heavy rain in Kolkata, capital of West Bengal. The situation in coastal areas has also worsened. Due to strong winds, in many places trees have been uprooted and fallen on roads. Meanwhile, in view of the possible threat of Cyclone ‘Dana’, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited the state government control room in Howrah on Thursday evening. He stayed in the control room all night and continued to obtain information about the situation. So far, 2 lakh 11 thousand 234 people have been evacuated to safe places in Bengal.
More than 400 trains were canceled
The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) said that cyclonic storm ‘Dana’ has hit the coasts of Odisha and West Bengal. ISRO’s EOS-06 and INSAT-3DR satellites have been monitoring the storm since October 20. Provide real-time data to assist in disaster management efforts. Due to fear of the storm arriving, authorities in Odisha and West Bengal have evacuated thousands of people to safe places. Schools have been closed. More than 400 trains have been canceled and flights have been suspended.
